WHITE CITY, Ore. — A U.S. Marshals Service-led task force arrested a Medford man Monday in White City who is wanted on multiple felony child sex abuse charges, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the suspect as Jose Francisco Gonzalez-Castaneda, 40, of Medford. He was wanted on a felony warrant including five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of first-degree sodomy, one count of second-degree sexual penetration, and one count of second-degree sodomy. Officials said federal authorities added additional charges after Gonzalez-Castaneda was lodged in jail.

The arrest occurred March 30 when members of the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force located Gonzalez-Castaneda at a shopping center in the 7500 block of Highway 62 in White City. Investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and Central Point Police Department took him into custody without incident.

Officials said the charges stem from a years-long investigation conducted by detectives with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.
