Straus Ice Cream Recalled in Oregon, California
Select Straus Family Creamery organic ice cream products are being recalled due to the potential presence of metal foreign material.
Straus Family Creamery has voluntarily recalled select production runs of its organic ice cream due to the potential presence of metal foreign material.
The company said the recall affects only specific flavors, sizes, and “best by” dates listed in the recall. The products were distributed to retailers in 17 states, including Oregon, California, and Washington, and were on shelves beginning May 4.
Straus ice cream is commonly sold at regional grocery stores, including Fred Meyer and Natural Grocers in Oregon, and Grocery Outlet, Raley’s, and Safeway in California. The recall notice does not identify specific store locations, and not all Straus ice cream products are affected.
Consumers should check the flavor, size, UPC, and best-by date before discarding any product.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been informed of the voluntary recall, according to Straus Family Creamery. The company said it is working with retailers to remove the potentially affected products from store shelves.
No injuries have been reported.
Consumers who purchased the recalled products are urged not to eat them. Straus Family Creamery says the products should be discarded and should not be returned to stores.
The recall applies only to the following Straus Family Creamery Organic Super Premium Ice Cream products:
The affected products are sold in paper cups with a seal and lid, in pint and quart sizes.
