Jacksonville Police Department responded to several calls during the week of May 11 through May 17, including a reported grass fire on Highway 238, a small fire near a downtown business, traffic-related arrests, and a dirt bike eluding case. Officers also participated in wildfire preparedness and public safety events.

A Grants Pass man is hospitalized with serious injuries after authorities say he drove the wrong way onto Interstate 5 near Rogue River and crashed head-on into an oncoming SUV. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the incident began when a deputy attempted to stop a speeding Toyota pickup on Rogue River Highway.

Two Central Point residents were killed Monday night in a crash involving a pickup and motorcycle on Highway 62 in Jackson County, according to Oregon State Police. OSP says impairment is considered a primary cause of the crash, and a Medford driver was arrested on DUII, reckless driving, and manslaughter charges.

A Bend-La Pine Schools bus driver was arrested on suspicion of DUII and reckless endangering after transportation staff reported concerns that she appeared intoxicated while operating a school bus. According to Bend Police, the driver had completed one student route and was preparing for another when she was removed from duty. Authorities later reported she registered a 0.16 percent blood alcohol content approximately seven hours after initial testing.

Deschutes County deputies say multiple drivers have been stopped traveling more than 100 mph on Highway 97 in the past week, including one driver arrested for DUII. Officials are urging drivers to slow down as enforcement increases.

An elderly woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision Saturday afternoon in Mount Shasta. Police say the driver, later identified as a 45-year-old man, was located, arrested, and booked on felony DUI and hit-and-run charges.

A 21-year-old Portland man was arrested in Bend after allegedly fleeing deputies, crashing a stolen truck, and being found passed out behind the wheel. Investigators say the suspect was impaired and required medical treatment before being taken into custody.

Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 99 near Rogue River after a pedestrian was killed while pushing a go-kart. The driver initially fled the scene but later contacted law enforcement and now faces DUII, hit-and-run, and Manslaughter charges.
