A man has been arrested following an early-morning homicide investigation near Bend after deputies discovered a woman deceased at a property north of the city, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

One person was killed and another seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning on Highway 31 in Klamath County, according to Oregon State Police.

A 21-year-old Portland man was arrested in Bend after allegedly fleeing deputies, crashing a stolen truck, and being found passed out behind the wheel. Investigators say the suspect was impaired and required medical treatment before being taken into custody.

A Christmas Eve garage fire on Bend’s west side was traced to a failed lithium-ion battery in a converted electric vehicle, according to Bend Fire & Rescue. Fire crews were able to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading into the main living space, though the home was left uninhabitable due to utility damage.

A 9-year-old child reported kidnapped out of Multnomah County was safely recovered Monday night following a nearly 30-minute, multi-agency pursuit through Central Oregon that ended in Redmond, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

An 18-year-old Bend man was arrested after a road rage incident escalated into a weapons threat at a southeast Bend gas station, according to the Bend Police Department. The weapon involved was later determined to be a BB gun.

Deschutes County will conduct winter pile burns on up to 24 acres near Seventh Mountain Resort and Points West, with weekday ignitions planned between December and February.
