Bend Police Seek Help Identifying Armed Robbery Suspect

Man allegedly threatened employee with handgun over 86 cents at NE Bend pizzeria

BEND, Ore. — Bend Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery at a northeast Bend pizza restaurant Wednesday night.

According to Bend Police, officers responded at approximately 9:03 p.m. April 1 to Abby’s Legendary Pizza, located at 1115 NE Third Street, following a report of an armed robbery.

Investigators say the suspect had been gambling in the Oregon Lottery game room inside the business. When an employee informed the man the establishment was closing, he approached the counter to cash out a ticket valued at 86 cents.

Police said the suspect then pulled out a black handgun and pointed it at the employee. The employee handed over 86 cents and told the suspect she would not provide any additional money. The suspect then left the business.

Authorities said the man fled on a black BMX-style bicycle, traveling westbound toward NE Second Street.

The suspect is described as either a white or Hispanic adult male, likely in his 20s or 30s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was reportedly wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black baseball cap, light gray jeans, and black latex work gloves. Police said the bicycle is a black BMX with a rear brake.

The man is suspected of first-degree attempted robbery, coercion, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Bend Police released photos of the suspect and the bicycle. Anyone who recognizes the individual is asked to contact non-emergency dispatch at 541-693-6911.
