Intruder Dies After Struggle During Bend Home Break-In

Police investigating residential burglary and death on NW Braid Drive

BEND, Ore. — Bend Police are investigating a residential burglary and death after an intruder died following a confrontation with a homeowner late Thursday night.

According to Bend Police, officers responded around 11:45 p.m. on March 12 to a report of a break-in attempt at a home in the 3500 block of NW Braid Drive.

Police said a resident inside the home confronted an unknown person who had attempted to enter the residence. A struggle occurred between the resident and the intruder before the suspect fled the scene on foot.

 
 

Officers arrived and began investigating the incident while Bend Fire and Rescue transported the resident to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During an area search, officers located the suspected intruder on a nearby golf course suffering from life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical care was provided, but the individual was later pronounced dead.

Bend Police detectives responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No additional details about the identity of the deceased or the cause of the injuries have been released at this time.
