Officer-Involved Shooting Reported in Medford

Police say an armed suicidal subject was shot during an early morning crisis call on Mallard Lane; investigation now led by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford Police reported an officer-involved shooting early this morning.

Officers responded to a call involving an armed, suicidal subject in the 3600 block of Mallard Lane. When officers arrived, they encountered the individual and shots were fired.

The subject was taken to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. No officers were injured.

According to MPD, the involved officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure. To ensure an independent review, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Officials say the scene remains under active investigation, and no additional details have been released at this time.
