Raiders’ World Series Game Moved to Monday

Southern Oregon is now scheduled to face Southeastern at 10 a.m. PT after weather delays continued to disrupt the NAIA Softball World Series in Georgia.

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Southern Oregon’s second game at the NAIA Softball World Series has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. PT Monday against Southeastern University of Florida at the South Commons Complex.

The updated schedule was announced after continued thunderstorms forced another round of postponements Sunday. The national tournament office released an ambitious Monday schedule that includes five games beginning at 8 a.m. PT.

Of the 12 games originally expected to be completed by this point in the tournament, nine have been played.

The No. 3-seeded Raiders opened the tournament Thursday with a 4-2 win over Cumberlands of Kentucky. Southern Oregon was originally scheduled to play its second World Series game Saturday, but weather delays pushed Southeastern’s opener to Saturday and continued to affect the tournament schedule through Sunday.

The SOU-Southeastern matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m. local time in Columbus, Georgia.

If Southern Oregon wins Monday morning, the Raiders will advance to play Tuesday against either Madonna of Michigan or Mobile of Alabama for a spot in Wednesday’s final round. A game time for that matchup has not yet been determined.

If the Raiders lose, they will play their first elimination game at 2 p.m. PT Monday against Indiana Wesleyan.

Weather could remain a factor. The current forecast for Columbus calls for thunderstorms likely shortly after the scheduled first pitch, with rain expected to continue into the evening.
