SWAT Standoff Ends in Medford Arrest

Medford Police say officers recovered shell casings, a handgun and other firearms after responding to a shots-fired report on South Holly Street.

MEDFORD, Ore. — An early morning shots-fired report in Medford led to a SWAT response and one man being jailed on multiple charges, according to the Medford Police Department.

Police said officers responded around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, May 24, to the 300 block of South Holly Street after receiving a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found what police described as a chaotic scene with multiple people both inside and outside a residence.

According to MPD, investigators determined three people had been involved in a physical altercation outside the home. As the people involved were separating, police said one person produced a handgun and fired several rounds into the air before going back inside the residence.

Officers recovered spent shell casings in the roadway, which police said corroborated witness accounts.

Police said officers detained people outside the home, but multiple suspects remained inside and refused repeated lawful commands to come out. Officers were able to identify the people still inside and said they were known to have violent criminal histories.

The Medford Police SWAT team was called to the scene and assumed command. Once the area was contained, announcements were made ordering the occupants to exit the residence. Police said the people inside eventually complied and were taken into custody without further incident.

During a later search warrant, officers said they found the handgun used in the incident discarded in the backyard, along with other firearms.

Police said 45-year-old Enrique Delgadillo IV was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on multiple charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, domestic violence menacing, felon in possession of a firearm and other related offenses.

No officers or bystanders were injured, according to MPD.

The case remains under investigation. The incident number is 26-8370.
