Redmond Garage Fire Quickly Contained

Fire crews stop blaze from spreading after ignition of gasoline vapors near propane heater

REDMOND, Ore. — Fire crews with Redmond Fire & Rescue responded to a reported structure fire Saturday evening at a single-family residence in northwest Redmond.

According to officials, firefighters were dispatched at approximately 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2026, to a home in the 800 block of Northwest Teak Avenue after multiple 911 callers reported a fire in the garage that was beginning to spread into the house.

Upon arrival, crews observed heavy fire conditions originating in the garage, with flames extending toward the main living area of the residence. Firefighters quickly initiated suppression efforts and were able to contain the fire to the garage, preventing further damage to the home.

All residents and pets safely escaped the house prior to the arrival of emergency crews. No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.

Fire investigators later determined the cause of the fire to be the ignition of gasoline vapors near an operating propane heater. Redmond Fire & Rescue is reminding the public to ensure all ignition sources are fully extinguished when working with or storing flammable liquids.
