Fair Board Openings Available in Deschutes County

Residents invited to apply for three volunteer positions overseeing the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center in Redmond

Deschutes County is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Deschutes County Fair Board, with three volunteer positions currently open.

The Fair Board oversees year-round operations of the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center, a 320-acre, multi-purpose event facility located in Redmond. The venue features approximately 200,000 square feet of flexible indoor event space, four livestock arenas, five barns, and a full-service RV park, among other amenities.

Fair Board members are appointed by the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners. One appointment will fill a vacant, unpaid one-year term, while two additional appointments will be for standard unpaid three-year terms. All terms are scheduled to begin in March 2026.

Board members are expected to attend 12 meetings per year. Meetings are typically held at 3:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month in Redmond.

The Board of County Commissioners seeks broad geographic representation and encourages residents from all areas of Deschutes County to apply. Applications will be accepted through the close of business on Monday, February 9.

For additional information, interested applicants may contact Deputy County Administrator and Interim Fair & Expo Director Erik Kropp at erik.kropp@deschutes.org or by phone at (541) 388-6584.
