PHOENIX, Ore. — An 81-year-old Central Point woman died Wednesday evening after she was struck by a vehicle in a business parking lot in Phoenix, according to police.

Phoenix Police said officers were dispatched at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in the parking lot of a business in the 4400 block of South Pacific Highway.

First responders and bystanders attempted life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police said her name is not being released at this time out of respect for her family’s privacy.

The driver, a 62-year-old Medford man operating a 2019 Toyota Tundra, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, according to police.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. Police said no further details are being released at this time.

The case is being investigated with assistance from the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction, or STAR, Team. The interagency team investigates fatal and complex serious-injury collisions and includes the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, Ashland Police Department, and Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.

Phoenix Police extended condolences to the woman’s family and thanked the bystanders who began life-saving efforts before first responders arrived.
