Mt. Ashland Pauses Ski Operations Indefinitely

Low snowpack and warm forecast force closure of all terrain and chairlifts beginning January 15

Jackson County — Mt. Ashland Ski Area has paused ski area operations indefinitely beginning Thursday, January 15, 2026, citing low snowpack, warm temperatures in the forecast, and no measurable snowfall projected in the near term.

According to the ski area, all terrain and chairlifts are closed until conditions improve. Officials said ongoing weather patterns have made it impossible to continue operations safely or sustainably.

Lift tickets, rentals, and lessons purchased for upcoming dates will be refunded. Guests who have already made purchases are advised to monitor their email inboxes for refund notifications.

Families participating in the School & Youth Group Learn-to-Ski Program will receive updates through their volunteer coordinators if scheduled program dates need to be adjusted.

Mt. Ashland officials stated they will continue monitoring weather forecasts and snow levels and will provide updates as conditions change. Operations are expected to resume once sufficient snowfall allows.
