GP Staffer Arrested in Sex Abuse Case
OSP says four victims identified in case spanning multiple years
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A Grants Pass school support staff member has been arrested following a grand jury indictment in a sex abuse investigation involving multiple victims, according to the Oregon State Police.
Authorities said the investigation began on February 6, 2026, after allegations surfaced involving Joseph Deley, 64, an educational assistant at Highland Elementary School.
During the course of the investigation, officials identified four female student victims, with incidents reported during the 2018, 2022, and 2024 school years.
The case was referred to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office, where a grand jury returned an indictment on April 9 charging Deley with six counts of sexual abuse in the first degree.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Deley was taken into custody on April 14 without incident. He was lodged at the Josephine County Jail.
