Fire Crews Quickly Contain Duplex Fire

KCFD1 responds to Roosevelt-area structure fire with rapid knockdown, preventing displacement and injuries

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — Crews with Klamath County Fire District 1 responded to a structure fire in the Roosevelt area on Wednesday, quickly containing the blaze and preventing injuries or major displacement.

According to the fire district, Battalion Chief 3103 arrived first on scene and confirmed a duplex with visible smoke and flames. Engine 3114 was the first engine company to arrive and rapidly located the seat of the fire, initiating an aggressive attack that extinguished the flames within minutes.

Additional crews from across the district responded to assist, but many units were released shortly after arrival due to the quick containment, allowing them to remain available for other emergency calls.

Fire officials said that due to the fast response and coordinated efforts, there is a strong likelihood that occupants from both sides of the duplex will not be displaced. No injuries were reported.

The incident also marked key milestones for two members of the department.

Recently promoted Battalion Chief Sweeney was operating at his first working fire in the role, where he established command and directed crews in bringing the situation under control efficiently.

Additionally, Probationary Firefighter Herinckk responded to his first working fire, with officials noting both members demonstrated strong professionalism and adherence to training.
