Crash Sparks Vehicle Fire After Attempted Firewood Theft

Driver cited following incident on Robertson Bridge Road near Merlin

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — A vehicle caught fire following a crash Tuesday evening on Robertson Bridge Road near Merlin, according to Rural Metro Fire.

The incident occurred around 8:52 p.m. on April 14 in the 3200 block of Robertson Bridge Road. Crews from Rural Metro Fire, AMR Josephine County, and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Officials said the crash happened after the driver attempted to leave the area with firewood taken from a nearby private property. Following the crash, the vehicle caught fire, prompting a response from fire crews.

 
 

The driver reported no injuries at the scene. Authorities said the individual was cited for multiple driving infractions.

The owner of the firewood declined to pursue charges related to the reported theft.
