Armed Carjacking Suspects Arrested After White City Pursuit

Flock Camera Alert Leads to Multi-Agency Response; Two Taken Into Custody

WHITE CITY, Ore. — Two suspects connected to an armed carjacking in Portland were arrested Friday morning in White City following a vehicle pursuit, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

At 8:46 a.m. on Friday, February 20, a Flock License Plate Reader camera alerted deputies to the presence of a vehicle reported stolen during an armed carjacking in Portland.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, leading law enforcement on a pursuit in the White City area between Antelope Road and Avenue G.

According to JCSO, the suspect vehicle crashed into two uninvolved vehicles and was eventually immobilized on Avenue G near Highway 62. Three individuals exited the vehicle and fled on foot but were taken into custody shortly afterward.

The Eagle Point Police Department and Oregon State Police assisted in the response.

During the pursuit, a JCSO patrol vehicle was involved in a minor collision with an Eagle Point School District bus. No injuries were reported. Oregon State Police is investigating that crash.

Deputies arrested one adult and one juvenile.

The adult driver was identified as Jhaywon Damon Brant, 21, of Beaverton. He is charged with:

  • Attempting to Elude (Vehicle)

  • Attempting to Elude (Foot)

  • Reckless Driving

  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person

  • Criminal Mischief II

  • Providing False Information to a Police Officer

  • Detainer for Parole Violation

The juvenile suspect was lodged at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention facility on a Felony Parole Warrant.

The original armed robbery remains under investigation by the Portland Police Bureau. The local investigation is ongoing.
