Two Killed in Highway 62 Motorcycle Crash

OSP says impairment is considered a primary cause; Medford driver arrested on DUII and manslaughter charges

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — Two Central Point residents were killed Monday night in a crash involving a pickup and motorcycle on Highway 62 in Jackson County, according to Oregon State Police.

OSP said troopers responded at 9:38 p.m. Monday, May 11, to a vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash on Highway 62 near milepost 3.

According to the preliminary investigation, a westbound Dodge Ram pickup driven by Kristin Michelle Cowan, 35, of Medford, struck the rear of a westbound Kawasaki Eliminator motorcycle.

The motorcycle was operated by John Daren Stribling, 56, of Central Point. A passenger on the motorcycle, Bobbie Lynn Stribling-King, 44, also of Central Point, was also involved in the crash.

OSP said Stribling and Stribling-King were both declared deceased at the scene.

Cowan was reportedly uninjured.

The highway was impacted for approximately seven hours while investigators worked at the scene.

OSP said impairment is considered a primary cause of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Cowan was arrested and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of DUII, reckless driving, and manslaughter.

OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
