Medford Homicide Investigation Underway

Police say an adult woman was found dead Tuesday afternoon near Welch Street and West Jackson Street, with a person of interest in custody.

MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford police are investigating a homicide after an adult woman was found dead Tuesday afternoon near Welch Street and West Jackson Street.

According to the Medford Police Department, officers received a call from a community member at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, reporting that they could hear an assault in the area.

Police responded and found an adult woman with significant injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

 
 

MPD said officers currently have a person of interest in custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police said there is a heavy law enforcement presence in the area, but there is no known threat to the public.

MPD said it is not identifying any parties at this time. Additional updates are expected as more information becomes available.
