Lockdown Lifted at Malin Elementary After Suspicious Activity Report

Police say no threat was found after individuals attempted to access secured school doors

MALIN, Ore. — A temporary lockdown was implemented at Malin Elementary School on Tuesday after reports of suspicious individuals attempting to access the building’s front entrance, according to the Malin Police Department.

School staff initiated the lockdown as a precaution after the individuals were seen trying to pull open secured front doors. Police responded to the scene in under 90 seconds from the time of dispatch and quickly began assessing the situation.

Officers located and identified the individuals shortly after arriving. The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist if needed.

Authorities said that at no point was there an active threat to students, staff, or the public. The lockdown was lifted shortly after officers determined there was no danger.

The Malin Police Department credited school staff for their quick actions and emphasized its ongoing partnership with local schools to maintain safety and security.
