Threat Prompts Lockdown at North Valley High School
No weapons found as deputies respond; all Three Rivers schools placed in secure status
MERLIN, Ore. — A reported threat prompted a lockdown at North Valley High School on Tuesday morning, with law enforcement responding and securing the campus, according to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began around 10:48 a.m. when the school received a phone call containing a threat. Authorities have not released specific details about the nature of the threat due to the ongoing investigation.
Deputies and Oregon State Police troopers responded immediately, conducting a full search of the campus both inside and outside. No weapons or items of concern were located.
As a precaution, all schools within the Three Rivers School District were placed in a secure status, meaning doors were locked and classes continued indoors while outdoor activities were canceled. Law enforcement personnel remained present at each campus for the rest of the school day.
Officials said no further threat to any district school has been identified.
The sheriff’s office thanked the public for their patience and acknowledged assistance from the Grants Pass Police Department during the response.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
