Pedestrian Killed in Christmas Week Crash on Highway 42 in Coos County

Oregon State Police say incident involved single vehicle east of Myrtle Point

COOS COUNTY, Ore. — A 29-year-old woman was killed in a traffic crash involving a pedestrian on Monday, December 22, 2025, along Highway 42 in Coos County, according to the Oregon State Police.

OSP said troopers responded to the incident at approximately 5:19 p.m. near milepost 20 on Highway 42. The crash involved a single vehicle and a pedestrian.

Preliminary information indicates a white Ford Ranger, driven eastbound by Crystal Leann Joffroy, 45, of Coos Bay, struck Faith Scarlet Rose Andersen, 29, of Myrtle Point, who was standing in the travel lane for an unknown reason.

Andersen was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Joffroy was not injured in the crash, according to OSP. Authorities said the highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Myrtle Point Police Department, Myrtle Point Fire Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
