Fatal crash on 140E kills two from Klamath Falls

OSP says both victims were ejected after a passing attempt led to a two-vehicle collision east of Klamath Falls.

Klamath County, Ore. — Oregon State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left two people dead Wednesday afternoon on Highway 140E near milepost 16.

According to OSP, the crash occurred around 1 p.m. on November 26 when a westbound Honda Civic attempted to pass slower traffic by entering the eastbound lane. A westbound Cadillac CTS also moved into the eastbound lane to pass and made contact with the Honda, clipping the front of the vehicle.

Troopers say the impact caused the Cadillac to lose control, roll down the eastbound shoulder, and come to rest on its roof in a nearby field.

The driver of the Cadillac, Kaden Shakur Moses, 24, of Klamath Falls, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, Bonner Deb Conney, 52, of Klamath Falls, also died at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, Tahj Mahalia Miller, 24, and two juvenile passengers — ages 3 and 5 — were reportedly uninjured.

Highway 140E was partially closed for about six hours during the investigation and vehicle recovery.

OSP was assisted by the Bonanza Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
