Driver Seriously Injured in I-5 Rollover

Rural Metro firefighters removed the roof and windshield of the vehicle to reach the trapped driver near milepost 80 in the Wolf Creek area.

WOLF CREEK – A driver was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 80 in the Wolf Creek area.

Rural Metro Fire said crews responded at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, on behalf of Wolf Creek Rural Fire Protection District.

When responders arrived, they found a single vehicle that had rolled over. The driver was trapped inside and unable to get out, according to Rural Metro Fire.

Firefighters were able to quickly extricate the driver by removing the vehicle’s roof and windshield. Patient care was then transferred to Glendale Ambulance and AMR-Josephine County.

 
 

Rural Metro Fire said the driver reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Medford trauma hospital.

Agencies responding to the crash included Rural Metro Fire, Glendale Oregon Rural Fire District, AMR-Josephine County, Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Traffic on I-5 was temporarily affected while crews worked at the scene, but the freeway has since reopened.
