KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — United Way of the Klamath Basin Executive Director Christine Hess has announced her retirement after nearly four years leading the nonprofit organization’s regional efforts.
The organization said it will begin an immediate search for a new executive director to continue overseeing programs and partnerships across the Klamath Basin.
During her tenure, Hess helped expand United Way’s presence and impact by strengthening community partnerships, broadening service reach, and increasing access to resources for local residents. Officials said her leadership supported new initiatives while improving the effectiveness and value of existing programs.
Most recently, United Way of the Klamath Basin took on a leadership role in the Bridge to Belonging project, a community effort focused on housing stability, education, and strengthening connections for vulnerable populations.
The organization has also served as a regional hub for disaster relief resources and preparedness information, helping support response efforts throughout the basin.
“Christine’s impact on our community has been tremendous,” United Way representatives said in a statement. “Her leadership and commitment to collaboration have strengthened partnerships and helped United Way grow its ability to serve residents throughout the Klamath Basin.”
Community members who wish to recognize Hess’s service are encouraged to make a donation in her honor to support the organization’s continued work with local families and community programs.
United Way of the Klamath Basin, located at 136 N. 3rd Street in Klamath Falls, said more details about the executive director hiring process will be announced soon.
