Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 140 Leaves Motorcyclist Dead

Three-vehicle crash near Kirtland Road intersection under investigation by Oregon State Police

The Oregon State Police is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday, January 17, at the intersection of Kirtland Road (Highway 140) and High Banks Road in Jackson County.

According to OSP, troopers responded to the crash at approximately 5:46 p.m. Preliminary findings indicate a Cadillac Escalade, operated by Michael Bryan Dickerson, 74, of Grants Pass, was traveling northbound on High Banks Road and entered the intersection at Highway 140, where it was struck by a Ford Escape operated by a 16-year-old female from Central Point.

Approximately five minutes after the initial collision, an eastbound Harley-Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle, operated by Jeremy Bruno Fantechi, 27, of Grants Pass, struck the Cadillac at a reported high rate of speed.

Fantechi was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OSP reported that Dickerson was not injured in the crash. The driver of the Ford Escape was also reported to be uninjured.

The highway was impacted for approximately four hours while investigators worked at the scene.

OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Fire District 3, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
