Driver, Passenger Decline Transport After Crash Near Merlin

iPhone crash detection alerted crews to wreck on Crow Road, authorities say

MERLIN, Ore. — Emergency crews responded to a reported crash on Crow Road near Ward Road on the afternoon of April 24 after an iPhone crash detection feature automatically alerted dispatchers.

According to Rural Metro Fire, firefighters from the Merlin station arrived within approximately five minutes of the alert and located a heavily damaged vehicle at the scene.

 
 

Despite the extent of the damage, both the driver and passenger declined transport to a hospital by ambulance, officials said.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation into the crash.
