Central Point Man Arrested in Child Sex Abuse Case

Sheriff’s deputies say the 22-year-old suspect met the 13-year-old victim on Snapchat before the alleged assault.

MEDFORD, Ore. — A Central Point man was arrested late Tuesday night after deputies say he sexually abused a 13-year-old girl he met on Snapchat.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), deputies responded at 11:54 p.m. on November 11 to a report of an adult male engaged in sexual activity with a juvenile in a parked truck along the 6600 block of Hillcrest Road in Medford.

When deputies and Medford Police officers arrived, they saw the suspect’s truck speeding away on McAndrews Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop and took 22-year-old Juan Jose Ramos-Arguella of Central Point into custody.

Ramos-Arguella is facing charges of:

  • First-degree sexual abuse

  • Driving under the influence of intoxicants – marijuana

  • Unlawful delivery of a marijuana item

He was booked into the Jackson County Jail.

Investigators say the suspect met the victim on Snapchat. JCSO detectives are continuing the investigation with assistance from the Oregon Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Division.
