19-Year-Old Charged with Attempted Murder for Dec. 5 Shooting

Police say suspect also faces charges in separate October incident

MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford Police Department detectives have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occurred on December 5, 2025, near the intersection of Marie Street and Stevens Street.

Police said 19-year-old Audrik Darling of Medford was apprehended on December 11 at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the Medford Center parking lot. The arrest was carried out by MPD detectives with assistance from the MPD SWAT Team and the Major Assault & Death Investigation Team (MADGE).

According to MPD, Darling had been identified as a person of interest in the December 5 shooting and was also wanted in connection with a separate incident involving kidnapping, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon that occurred on October 11, 2025.

Following his arrest, Darling was interviewed at the Medford Police Department and lodged on charges related to the October incident. On December 12, MPD detectives filed additional charges connected to the December 5 shooting. Police said the firearm believed to have been used in the December incident has been recovered.

The shooting occurred at approximately 5:46 p.m. on December 5, when officers responded to reports of gunfire near Marie Street and Stevens Street. Security footage from a nearby residence captured the sound of shots being fired.

While officers were canvassing the area, Providence Emergency Department notified law enforcement that an individual had arrived with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers contacted the victim at the hospital, where the injury was determined to be non-life-threatening.

Investigators located several spent shell casings at the scene. MPD detectives assumed control of the investigation and later determined that the suspect and victim were known to one another. Police said the shooting was not believed to be a random act.

MPD also reported that Darling, along with four additional suspects, was indicted by a Jackson County Grand Jury on December 9 in connection with the October 11 incident. Authorities said additional information will be released as other suspects are taken into custody.
