Siskiyou County Continues Crackdown on Illegal Marijuana Grows

Sheriff’s officials say NSMIT removed 332,871 illegal marijuana plants in 2025, with another 903 plants eradicated during a June 4 warrant.

SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — A recent search warrant in the Mount Shasta Vista Subdivision led to the removal of hundreds of illegal marijuana plants and processed marijuana, according to the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said the warrant was served June 4 by the North State Marijuana Investigation Team (NSMIT).

“In just one case last week on June 4th, a search warrant was served at a parcel in the Mount Shasta Vista Subdivision that resulted in the eradication of 903 illegal marijuana plants and 90lbs of processed marijuana,” SCSO said in the release.

The Sheriff’s Office said the case is part of an ongoing effort to investigate and dismantle illegal cannabis cultivation operations in Siskiyou County.

According to the agency, NSMIT eradicated 332,871 illegal marijuana plants and 54,070 pounds of processed marijuana in 2025. During those warrant searches, the Sheriff’s Office reported 118 arrests and the seizure of 34 firearms.

Sheriff’s officials also said illegal cultivation sites continue to raise environmental and public-safety concerns. According to the agency, more than 80% of illegal cultivation sites investigated by the Sheriff’s Office contained dangerous foreign-labeled pesticides, which officials said can be toxic to people, animals and the environment.

“As we enter another busy summer for illegal cultivation, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating the illegal marijuana industry, holding those responsible accountable, and protecting the health, safety, natural resources, and quality of life of the residents of Siskiyou County,” the agency said in its release.

The Sheriff’s Office encouraged residents to report suspicious activity by calling 530-842-8300 or using the county’s online reporting portal.

The agency’s release did not include information about arrests or charges connected to the June 4 search warrant.
