Oregon 234 to Close Again for Pavement Repairs Near Eagle Point

The two-week closure will affect Sams Valley Highway between Modoc and Dodge roads.

EAGLE POINT, Ore. — A half-mile stretch of Oregon 234 near Eagle Point will close for about two weeks beginning Monday, July 6, while crews repair a section of sunken and cracked pavement.

The Oregon Department of Transportation said the closure will begin at 8 a.m. July 6 and remain in place at all times between Modoc Road and Dodge Road.

The work is needed near milepost 15, where the road base settled following an extensive pavement repair project last year. ODOT said the settling caused the highway to sink and crack, requiring additional reconstruction.

Contractor Visar Construction will rebuild the road base and repave the highway. Work is expected to be complete by July 20.

During the closure, a detour will be available using Dodge Road and Antioch Road. Drivers may also use Antioch Road or Modoc Road south to Table Rock Road to connect with Oregon 140 and Oregon 62 in White City.

ODOT said drivers should expect congestion along the detour route and nearby roads. Travelers are encouraged to use caution, allow extra time and consider alternate routes to avoid the area entirely.

Until the repair work begins, drivers should watch for sunken pavement in the area.

Road condition and closure updates are available through TripCheck.com.
