Hilt Fire Lined at 15 to 20 Acres Near Colestin Road

Firefighters have lined the fire perimeter and are ordering additional resources for overnight mop-up, while Level 1 evacuation notices remain in place.

ODF Southwest says firefighters have made good progress on the Hilt Fire near the 2000 block of Colestin Road.

According to the agency, crews have successfully lined and hose-lined the entire perimeter, catching the fire at an estimated 15 to 20 acres. Additional resources are being ordered to staff mop-up operations overnight.

The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.

All Level 1 evacuation notices remain in place. Residents should continue to follow Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson County Emergency Management for evacuation updates.


JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — Firefighters have stopped forward progress on the Hilt Fire, a grass fire burning Monday near the 2000 block of Colestin Road in southern Jackson County.

According to a 12:45 p.m. update from ODF Southwest, the fire is estimated at 15 to 20 acres. Multiple engines and crews remain on scene, working to strengthen control lines around the fire.

Air resources, including helicopters, air tankers and Air Attack, remained overhead Monday afternoon. A dozer is also assisting with containment efforts.

 
 

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson County Emergency Management have issued a Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuation notice for zones JAC-564 and JAC-566.

Level 1 means residents should be aware of the danger in the area, monitor official updates and be prepared to leave if conditions change.

ODF Southwest said additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
