MEDFORD, Ore. — Summer movie nights are returning to parks in Medford and Central Point, giving families several free outdoor movie options across the Rogue Valley this season.
Both Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities and Central Point Parks and Recreation have announced summer movie lineups featuring family-friendly films shown outdoors at local parks. The screenings are free to attend, with movies beginning at dusk.
Central Point’s Movies in the Park series begins Friday, June 5, after its original May 29 showing of “Moana” was rescheduled due to weather. The series will continue through Aug. 7 at several Central Point parks.
Medford’s Rogue Credit Union Movies in the Park Series begins June 20 and includes five free screenings at Rogue X and Bear Creek Park. Medford officials said the events will include pre-show activities for kids, a gift basket raffle and event-branded giveaways.
Central Point’s series will include local vendors selling snacks and treats during the events. Families are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and snacks for the outdoor screenings.
In addition to the free park screenings, Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse program is returning to Tinseltown in Medford from June 1 through Aug. 6. The indoor summer movie program offers discounted family-friendly films during select showtimes, with tickets priced at $1.75 each. Cinemark is also offering special snack and popcorn deals for Summer Movie Clubhouse guests.
This year’s Cinemark lineup includes family films such as “Paddington,” “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “A Minecraft Movie” and “K-Pop Demon Hunters Sing-Along,” along with other kid-friendly titles. Advance tickets are available through Cinemark.
Medford is also launching a new family concert series this summer. Gigglemug’s Fam Jams, sponsored in part by Rogue Credit Union, will bring family-friendly performances to Rogue X and Pear Blossom Park in June and July.
