Tree Crashes Into Two Homes Near Grants Pass

Two people were rescued from the rubble after a thunderstorm brought heavy rain and wind through East Grants Pass on Sunday.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Two people were rescued Sunday afternoon after a thunderstorm brought down a tree in East Grants Pass, severely damaging two homes along Rogue River Highway.

According to Rural Metro Fire, the incident was reported at 4:47 p.m. on May 3 in the 3300 block of Rogue River Highway. The storm brought heavy rain and wind through the area before the tree came down onto the homes.

 
 

Rural Metro Fire said two people were trapped inside after the tree struck the homes. Rescue teams from Rural Metro Fire, Grants Pass Fire, and AMR were able to extricate both people from the rubble.

Both were taken to the hospital with injuries that appeared to be non-life-threatening.

The uprooted tree also damaged a gas line, but Rural Metro Fire said no fire occurred.
