GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Grants Pass Fire & Rescue welcomed an international fire service leader on Friday, May 2, hosting Kishor Kumar Bhattarai, Fire Chief of the Kathmandu Fire Brigade in Nepal, for a hands-on training demonstration and tour of local fire facilities.

The visit gave Grants Pass firefighters an opportunity to share knowledge, compare practices, and demonstrate the tools and techniques used by the department to serve the community.

According to Grants Pass Fire & Rescue, the exchange highlighted the shared mission of firefighters across different countries and cultures. Though the departments are separated by thousands of miles, the agency said the fire service remains closely connected through its work to protect lives, property, and communities.

The Grants Pass visit appears to be part of a broader regional exchange. Rural Metro Fire said Chief Bhattarai is also expected to visit its agency on Tuesday, May 5, continuing his fire service visits in Southern Oregon for at least several more days.

Grants Pass Fire & Rescue said it was grateful for the opportunity to build the connection with Chief Bhattarai and learn from one another through the visit.
