Hospital Resource Officer Program Now Active at Sky Lakes

Officer Jeff Hutcheson continues in first-of-its-kind role supporting safety on the medical campus

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Klamath Falls Police Department and Sky Lakes Medical Center are highlighting the ongoing success of their Hospital Resource Officer program, which launched earlier this year and marked a first for the region.

Officer Jeff Hutcheson, who began the assignment on December 1, 2025, now serves full-time on the Sky Lakes campus as part of a collaborative effort to improve safety, communication, and response coordination between law enforcement and healthcare teams. Hutcheson remains a KFPD employee, with Sky Lakes serving as his designated patrol location.

A veteran officer serving with KFPD since 1993, Hutcheson brings more than three decades of law enforcement experience to the role. His reputation for professionalism and community service helped shape the development of the position.

“Jeff brings a tremendous amount of law enforcement experience from his lengthy career with the police department. I have always known Jeff to be an outstanding police officer and an outstanding person,” said Dennis Davenport, Sky Lakes Director of Safety and ER Management. “He has done a lot of great things at the police department and has maintained an impeccable reputation throughout his entire career.”

Strengthening Safety on the Medical Campus

Sky Lakes leaders say the program has been an important addition to the hospital environment, supporting both staff and patients while easing pressure on KFPD patrol units. The Hospital Resource Officer role provides:

  • Faster response times to incidents on campus

  • A visible, proactive safety presence

  • Support for handling disruptive or potentially harmful behavior

  • Improved communication and coordination with healthcare teams

“I am excited about what this position will bring to Sky Lakes,” said Ron Woita, Chief Operations Officer. “Having law enforcement on-site will help us build stronger partnerships with our community agencies while creating a safer environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.”
