Child Exploitation Investigation Underway in Talent
Multi-agency task force serves search warrant after tip from National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
TALENT, Ore. — A multi-agency law enforcement task force served a search warrant Thursday morning at a residence in Talent as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected child sexual abuse material.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET), working alongside the Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed the warrant at a home on Taylor Street on March 12.
Investigators began the case after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating that child sexual abuse material had been uploaded from the address. The tip prompted investigators to pursue subpoenas before ultimately obtaining a search warrant for the residence.
During the operation, investigators interviewed possible witnesses and individuals connected to the case.
Authorities also seized several digital devices during the search. The devices will undergo forensic analysis by the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force as investigators look for additional evidence related to potential child exploitation offenses.
Multiple agencies assisted with the operation, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Medford Police Department, the Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Talent Police Department, and the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force.
Officials say the investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing digital evidence and conducting additional interviews. No further details have been released at this time.
SOCET is a regional task force established in June 2020 to combat child exploitation. The team includes investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, Oregon Department of Justice, and Homeland Security Investigations, along with prosecutors from local, state, and federal jurisdictions in Jackson and Josephine counties.
