Henley Baseball, Softball Close Strong Seasons With Playoff Runs, Honors

The Hornets’ spring season included state quarterfinal appearances, Skyline Conference recognition and major postseason honors across both programs.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Henley High School closed the 2026 spring season with another strong showing from two of its most successful athletic programs, as both the Hornets baseball and softball teams made deep OSAA state playoff runs while earning major Skyline Conference recognition.

Both programs reached the state quarterfinals, with Henley baseball finishing the year at 25-4 and Henley softball closing at 17-11. While both seasons ended short of the final weekend, the Hornets again showed why Henley has become one of Southern Oregon’s most consistent names in spring sports.

For Henley baseball, the season included a Skyline Conference title, a top postseason seed and a trip to the 4A state semifinals. The Hornets’ run ended June 2 in Klamath Falls with a 3-1, nine-inning playoff loss to Tillamook.

The baseball program was also well represented in the 2026 All-Skyline Conference awards.

Sean Teaters was named Skyline Conference Coach of the Year, while seven Hornets earned first-team all-conference honors. Conner Shively, Carson Siems, Ian Meyer, Derrick Cox and Jacoby Tacchini were named first-team all-conference, while Corbin Hamilton earned first-team recognition as both a pitcher and outfielder.

Hunter Glidden was named second-team all-conference as a pitcher, while Ryan Douglas and Ty Teaters received honorable mention recognition.

Henley softball also put together another memorable season, winning the program’s 15th consecutive conference title and reaching the 4A state quarterfinals.

The Hornets finished 17-11 overall, ranked No. 7, and posted a .373 team batting average with 286 runs, 31 home runs and 52 stolen bases. The team also highlighted three college-bound athletes, three senior all-stars and two players who reached 100 career hits.

Henley’s softball season ended May 29 with a 9-1 quarterfinal loss at St. Helens. Gracie White and Belle Birch each had two hits in the game, while Callie Grant doubled and scored Henley’s lone run. White drove in the Hornets’ run.

Despite the final score, the season added to a long run of success for Henley softball and brought another round of major conference honors.

Gracie White was named Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Hidden Valley’s Sam Lesher. Kalin Blankenship and Rylee Hollingsworth were named Co-Pitchers of the Year, while Scott White was named Skyline Conference Coach of the Year.

Henley placed several players on the all-conference first team, including Jillian Vickery in the infield, Layli Segura and Haydn Higgins in the outfield, Blankenship and Hollingsworth at pitcher, Belle Birch at catcher, Makayla Schroeder at utility and Gracie White at first base.

Ollie Birch received honorable mention in the infield, while Callie Grant received honorable mention in the outfield.

Following the season, Henley softball thanked the families, friends, supporters, sponsors, school staff and community members who helped make the year possible.

“Thank you everyone that supported, screamed, cheered, and cried for us this season,” the program shared. “You are the heartbeat of Hornet Softball and we can’t thank you enough. Go Hornets!”

Senior catcher Belle Birch reflected on the program as more than a team.

“Henley Softball is many things to me,” Birch said. “My team are my sisters, the game is an unforgettable pastime that we’ve enjoyed together while remembering and following these mantras, ‘Have Fun, Play Hard, Don’t Suck. Underdog Mentality. Pressure is a privilege. 0-0 mentality.’ I’ll continue to hold them close to my heart forever.”

Scott White said the Hornets tried to focus on the full journey rather than only the final result.

“Obviously the game didn’t turn out how we wanted, but we try not to focus on the outcomes, we focus on the journey,” White said. “These kids’ journey is just beginning, and the daily commitment to hard work and character is what they get to carry off of this field. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Together, the baseball and softball seasons continued a strong spring tradition at Henley, with both programs winning, advancing and filling the postseason awards lists with Hornets.
