Mountainview Townhomes adds 72 affordable homes for individuals and families in Klamath Falls.

Rural Oregon is vital to our state’s past, present, and future. There is so much more at stake here than just investments in housing. It is an investment in making everyday life better, made possible by locally led, community-driven visions.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — A new fully affordable housing development in Klamath Falls will be celebrated next week as local and state partners mark the grand opening of Mountainview Townhomes.

The 72-home development includes a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom townhomes, all offered at affordable rates. The grand opening is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at 5582 Kennebeck Loop in Klamath Falls.

The project is a partnership between Stewardship Development, Klamath Housing Authority and Oregon Housing and Community Services. The ceremony will take place in the courtyard behind the development’s community building.

“The opening of Mountainview Townhomes represents an important milestone for our community,” Klamath Housing Authority Development Director Diana Otero said in the announcement. “It not only provides safe, stable homes for families but also creates opportunities for hope, connection, and a stronger sense of belonging.”

Mountainview Townhomes includes 12 residential buildings with a mix of one- and two-story homes. The development also includes shared spaces for residents, including a community building, outdoor sports field, playground, fenced dog run and community garden.

Each home is equipped with energy-efficient appliances and fixtures, and residents have access to onsite parking. Solar panels were also included in the project with support from an Oregon Department of Energy grant.

The development received several layers of public and private financing, including 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Oregon Affordable Housing Tax Credits and Local Innovation and Fast Track funds through Oregon Housing and Community Services. Mountainview Townhomes also received eight project-based vouchers intended to serve very low-income families and individuals.

OHCS Executive Director Andrea Bell said the project reflects the importance of locally driven housing solutions in rural Oregon.

“Rural Oregon is vital to our state’s past, present, and future,” Bell said. “There is so much more at stake here than just investments in housing. It is an investment in making everyday life better, made possible by locally led, community-driven visions.”

The opening comes as communities across Southern Oregon continue to face pressure from housing costs, limited rental availability and the need for more stable housing options for low- and moderate-income residents.

Klamath Housing Authority serves more than 1,300 families and individuals in Klamath and Lake counties. Its mission is to help low-income individuals and families obtain affordable housing and work toward self-sufficiency.
