BLM Timber Sales Bring in $8.3 Million in Oregon
February timber sales across public lands exceeded appraised values by more than $3 million, supporting mills and jobs.
OREGON — The Bureau of Land Management reported that February timber sales across public lands in Oregon generated more than $8.3 million, reflecting strong demand from the domestic wood products industry.
According to the BLM, the agency sold 27.6 million board feet of timber across 1,255 acres of public land, with final bids exceeding appraised values by more than $3 million.
Officials say the timber sold through these contracts will supply regional wood products facilities and support jobs in surrounding communities.
Several timber sales were completed across multiple BLM districts in Oregon.
The Coos Bay District sold the Eckley Empanada timber tract, totaling 1.8 million board feet across 105 acres, to Harveys’ Selective Logging, Inc. of Creswell for $142,228.
The Medford District sold the Thom Bone timber tract, consisting of 6 million board feet across 585 acres, to Estremado Logging Inc. of Gold Hill for $458,766.
In the Northwest Oregon District, two tracts were sold. The Gopher Broke tract, totaling 7 million board feet across 223 acres, was purchased by Boise Cascade Wood Products of Willamina for $2,499,716. The John Boy tract, totaling 8 million board feet across 167 acres, was purchased by Rosboro Company, LLC of Springfield for $3,913,070.
The Roseburg District sold the Muley Mount timber tract, totaling 5 million board feet across 175 acres, to Scott Timber Company of Roseburg for $1,313,495.
BLM officials say the agency plans to hold seven additional timber sales in March, offering an estimated 56.9 million board feet across 1,939 acres of public land in Oregon.
The Bureau of Land Management oversees 58 million acres of forest lands nationwide, including 2.4 million acres in western Oregon, some of the most productive forests in the world. The agency says its forestry program supports economic activity while also addressing wildfire risk reduction, habitat conservation, and long-term forest management.
Nationally, BLM forestry programs support approximately 2,000 jobs each year and generate more than $1 billion in economic activity.
More than 20 percent of BLM-managed lands consist of forest and woodland ecosystems. In fiscal year 2025, the agency offered 301 million board feet of timber through new sales, stewardship contracts, and cooperative agreements.
